There are moments while writing when it doesn’t feel like I’m creating something.
It feels like I’m standing at the edge of it.
Like there’s a line between this world and the one I’m writing… and for a little while, I get to step across it.
It doesn’t happen every day.
Most days are work.
Structure.
Edits.
Small progress.
But then there are moments where everything shifts.
The scene becomes clear.
The characters feel close.
The world sharpens in a way that feels almost tangible.
And for a little while, I’m not just writing the story.
I’m inside it.
I can see the setting.
Feel the tension.
Understand the weight of the moment in a way that goes beyond words on a page.
Those are the moments that remind me why I do this.
Because writing isn’t just about building a world.
It’s about stepping into it.
Living there long enough to understand it.
And then finding a way to bring pieces of it back.
Not perfectly.
Not completely.
But enough that someone else can step into it too.
That’s the real goal.
Not just to tell the story…
But to open the door.
So the reader can cross that line as well.
